Photography is a colonizing tool, and in documentary work, the photographer has a position of power. In an attempt to shift this dynamic and blur social, cultural and environmental differences, Celălalt is using a portrait aesthetic meant to empower.

So far, more than 800 people have been pictured, receiving their portrait printed on the spot, in the photographer’s home county Tulcea, were he was also born and raised.
